Comparison of flexural beam behavior due to monotonic loading and loading-unloading scheme

Abstract Reinforced concrete is a construction material used frequently in Indonesia to build structural members especially beam structures. As one of the members, should be able carry flexural and shear loading as well distribute column eventually foundation. In order avoid failure design, reinforced continuously studied. This research investigates its behavior at monotonic loading-unloading schemes. A point load was applied midspan simply supported beam. The result showed that subjected has slightly overestimated value compared condition first crack load, yielding ultimate were observed 6.9%, 6.5%, 8.2% higher than during situations. Crack patterns occurred both scheme equally experienced failure. However, propagated more spread out happened which concentrated plastic hinge located near column.
